Mobile Internet Marketing and Mobile Advertising

Advertising on webpages specifically meant for access by mobile devices is increasingly becoming popular now. Some marketing gurus even go on to say that the major future advertising will shift to mobile devices, including mobile phones. Companies and engineers developing technologies for mobile phones aim at integrating mobile technology and web technology.

The Mobile Marketing Association publishes from time to time guidelines and standards that give the recommended format of ads, presentations and metrics used in reporting. To keep pace with the evolving future trends, Google, Yahoo and other major mobile content providers have already been selling ads on their properties for years. Advertising networks and advertisers are already focused on mobile phone marketing and mobile advertising.

Keeping this emerging trend in mind, web sites are now being developed to suit mobile devices. As a publisher who aims at ad revenue from content based advertising such as Google AdSense, you either may be using Google mobile ads, or you may like to use them in future. Mobile websites that can display Google ads can display the ads of other similar services like Yahoo and others as the technology and other parameters are the same.

AdSense publishers already know that Google ads can be placed on websites that can be accessible on mobile phones. If your website is mobile-compliant, you can create mobile ad code and place it on your site in the same way as you place other AdSense ads. If added to a standard webpage AdSense mobile ad code will not display Google ads. Mobile ad codes have to be placed on sites that are mobile compliant.

If you don't have a mobile website, you can create one by rewriting your current website in a mobile markup language, such as XHTML, WML or CHTML. Also, your mobile website has to be developed using server-side scripting such as PHP or ASP. Most web hosting service providers support PHP. In many cases, you can enable your webpages for PHP by simply changing the file extension from .htm (or .html) to .php. For example, if one of your current webpage is …/marketing.htm you will convert it to …/marketing.php and make changes to other pages too.

Also you have to make sure that the layout of your website is formatted to display on mobile phones. After you make your site mobile-compliant, you can paste the PHP code snippet into the location of the page where you want the AdSense for mobile ads to appear.

If you are not conversant with the suggested changes, or feel that you do not have the tools or resources to make your page suitable for mobile phones, you can find resources from the internet that could help you create a mobile site. You can search for the resources, tools or software by using the key phrases such as "create mobile website" or "make mobile webpage".

At present Google AdSense ads for mobile content is not operational in all countries. But it is expected that Google will add more countries or markets in the near future. Google lists 27 counties where Google mobile ads are currently available as follows.
